Should you get married 2026 and Beyond?

First, your decision to get married is between you and God. Scripture tells us in the last days false teachers will “forbid people to marry,” so I don’t want to say that. But in 1 Corinthians 7 Paul brings out good points as to why someone shouldn’t get married. Ideally, marriage is a wonderful thing. If this was a perfect world with no sin, having a monogamous marriage partner to share with you in life is so fun and to have a friend to do life with is unmatched. But we don’t live in that perfect world.

I highly recommend if you can live a life without sex or train yourself to live life without sex, or masterbation don’t get married in these last days. Here’s why: marriage comes with many problems. Paul tried to warn us of this in 1 Corinthians 7. What problems? Adultery. High emotions. Divided attention away from God. I higher battle against sin.

Just to name a few problems, marriage comes with all of these. Because in these last days people are so engaged with sin, it is highly unlikely your spouse is doing great in the battle against sin. The spouse you find is not going to show you what their sins are because people are so good at hiding their sin these days. The truth is the world is more wicked than many of us truly understand or see. Can you image finding a spouse in the days of Noah? It turns out that only 8 people were right with God out of millions of people, and yet Jesus told us back then people were marrying and given in marriage up until Noah entered the Ark.

I just think if you’re truly serious about faith in Jesus, I don’t recommend marriage in these last days. But if you do decide to get married, have thick thick skin. You will have to decide to turn the other cheek when hurt by your spouse, which is hard to do. You will have to forgive, you will have to not be suspicious of their actions, you will have to learn what to do in marriage from a book. You will have to learn what to do if you have kids. You will have to do all this while learning to overcome sin yourself. You will have to forget all other women or men you may be interested in or attracted to and be devoted to your one spouse until death do you part.

Despite all this, I want to give hope for those that are deciding to tie the knot. God can do impossible things, and can give you a good marriage. But I think our culture highly leads many people astray thinking marriage is something that it isn’t. Frankly, I don’t think romance really exists or is eternal. Just think, if marriage was to be so great, why would God not allow marriage in the new heavens and new earth. There are some that believe marriages will be in heaven. The answer is marriage is not eternal, at least from the perspective of most Christian beliefs. I think that says a lot about what God sees in marriage and how he thinks it should not be apart of heaven.

I wanted to write this to give you a real perspective of what marriage is. I think too many people are getting married when they really should not. You can save yourself a lot of potentially heartache and problems. But I will say these are also the currency of marriage. Marriage is a blessing too. I think having a spouse to hangout with and do life with is awesome, but I also want you to really realize the world’s we live in now. Don’t be afraid to be single. There is a difference between choosing to live alone vs being lonely. Loneliness is linked to depression and you can definitely feel lonely while in a marriage surrounded by family. I am not saying this as a blanket statement for everyone. I think God has used my marriage to really mold and change me. But I also want to say I believe you can have a great life without being married. And if you’re struggling with sex outside of marriage and thinking you should just get married. My advice is to repent, get celebrate, get help with any porn addiction, but still consider not getting married and focusing on God, study scriptures, watch Christian movies, go on trips, go out to eat, make same sex friends, bible study, and overcome sin and prepare for heaven without getting married. But if you don’t mind the challenge of marriage, the real likely possibility of dealing with adultery, and any other problems, marriage is fun: you get to hold hands, experience sex, watch movies together, plan life together, talk, eat together and so on. But don’t ever let a spouse try to fill a role only God can fill. Pray about it, and I hope this was helpful in your decision. Lastly, don’t marry anyone who is not a Christian. And I highly recommend finding someone in church for one, but also someone you can see is serious about Jesus. Don’t just go for attraction. God bless you and I apologize if this article was a little rough.
