We Have To Make It In The City
what city? The New Jerusalem. God is going to be bringing down out of Heaven a new city from Heaven to earth where He will dwell with us
Life appears to be a battle that is somewhat low key. Yes, we have tragedy and strife in the world, but we are fighting as Christians for life with the Lord. The Lord wants us to navigate through life with wisdom and understanding about our duty as soldiers of life. We know from Ecclesiastes that our duty is to fear God and keep His commandments, but sometimes there is more to do than that in between the lines. I believe we need to know how things work just like a scientist or a researcher and build off a foundation of Christ.
Jesus wants us to become like Him, and we do that by changing from how we use to live. Sometimes it can feel so bad when we make a mistake or many mistakes. God opens the door for us to find Jesus where we are broken. From our broken place God speaks to us. I know it feels great to have the word of God speak to our heart and heal us. Sometimes our mistakes can linger around and cause consequences we don’t particularly care for. Unfortunately this is sad, but fortunately we serve a God that can calm storms and bring peace. I haven’t gotten tired of hearing that in the middle of a storm, there is a calm that is not happening anywhere outside of the storm.
Though our storm in life may rage, we have to regroup and realize we are still in the fight as a soldier and we have to grit our teeth in peace, and continue on. All around the world there is strife and fighting and war and death, but we serve a God opposite of all that. We need to choose every day to navigate to the center of the storm where Jesus is through prayer, reading and knowing well our bibles, through good works, through joy, love, peace, and more fruits of the spirit. Here is the key, we know where we are going.
We are headed to the New Jerusalem. A place of zero pain, sorrow, and literally perfect living as seen in Revelation 21 & 22 as you know. Are you a preacher of righteousness? Do you know and do others know of how you stand for right living and the righteousness of Jesus? Noah is described as that man, and in our life we need to be Noah. In the midst of a crooked and perverse world we have to be the one ship that is maintained in the center of the storm in the calm. On the ship we need to keep our personality in check.
Only God can help us break bad habits. We need to make sure we are not mean sounding or saying mean things to people. We need to be kind and put in the effort it takes to be a better person. When we carry and live out our Bible, we will see the storm turn to peace. God bless you
